Salzburg to Prague by train

To travel from Salzburg to Prague by train, you will need to purchase a ticket from Salzburg hbf, which is Salzburg’s central train station, to Prague Hlavni Nadrazi. Because there are no direct trains from Salzburg to Prague, you will need to transfer in Linz, Ceske Budejovice and Linz, or Vienna.  The earliest train is at 5:12 AM, and the last train is at 5:12 PM, with trains departing every 4 hours. The train from Salzburg to Prague is operated by Czech Railway (CD), Austrian Railways (OBB), and RegioJet, with train tickets costing €15-20 on average for the 4 hour trip. The distance from Salzburg to Prague is about 300 kilometers. Trains have bathrooms on board, and usually offer a dining car.

Salzburg to Prague by bus

To travel from Salzburg to Prague by bus, you can depart from Salzburg, PR Süd or Hbf Bahnsteig and arrive in Prague’s Florenc or Hlavni Nadrazi. If you don’t get a direct route, you will have to transfer buses in Ceske Budejovice or Munich. While you can buy your ticket at the station, it’s best to purchase them in advance. The earliest bus departs at 7:35 AM, and the last bus is at 5:15 PM. Bus departures are clustered in the morning and evening. The bus from Prague to Salzburg is run by Flixbus or Leo Express, with bus tickets from Prague to Salzburg costing between €15-€29. The journey lasts between 5.5-8.5 hours, depending on if you get a direct route.

Salzburg to Prague by plane

To travel by plane, head to the Salzburg International airport, and catch a flight to Prague. As usual with flights, you’ll want to buy your tickets in advance. Unfortunately there are no direct flights from Salzburg to Prague, and only a handful take less than 4 hours. Austrian Airlines requires you to transfer in Vienna, while Lufthansa has a transfer in Frankfurt. Tickets average around €300 for the 2.5+ hour flight from Salzburg to Prague.
