To Poznan Christening Colors

One of the country’s oldest cities, Poznan is considered by many to be the birthplace of the Polish state. The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul (commonly known as Poznan Cathedral) was Poland’s first cathedral and where Catholicism was introduced to the country in 968. The Cathedral retains pride of place on Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island), celebrated as the spot on which Poznań was founded. Although Poznan’s Old Town was severely damaged during WWll and the soviet rule that followed, it has been beautifully restored. The Royal-Imperial Route is a walk that runs through the heart of the city, allowing visitors to appreciate the most important and historic parts of Poznan with ease. Poznan City Hall, the Raczyński Library and the Collegium Minus of Adam Mickiewicz University are all architecturally unique and visually striking. Stary Rynek (the Old Town Market Square) is one of the finest in Europe and is lined with cafes and restaurants.
