Don’t let the name mislead you - this park is named for early Utah leaders Lorenzo and Erastus Snow, not for the weather!
The weather is mild year-round at Snow Canyon State Park, so don’t be expecting any winter frost! In the heart of Utah’s red-rock country, the park is a popular spot for an outdoor adventure and it’s a landscape photographer’s dream. The Navajo sandstone cliffs at Snow Canyon have been shaped and reshaped by lava flows as recently as 27,000 years ago, forming the canyons’ distinctive geological landscape. The scenery is striking, largely due to the stark contrast of the white sandstone mountains against the iconic red rock cliffs that form the canyon. Wildlife such as coyotes and roadrunners storm the park during dusk and dawn, adding to this spectacular outdoor experience. Between hiking, rock-climbing, mountain biking and even horseback riding, there’s something for every outdoor enthusiast here at Snow Canyon.
