Avenue of the GiantsBig and Beautiful
Passing through the famous Humboldt Redwoods State Park, the Avenue of the Giants offers over 30 miles of amazing forest scenery. Surrounded by titanic trees, it’s a far more scenic alternative to Highway 101. On the meandering drive, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to pull over and stretch your legs, and take pictures of the giant redwoods. At the northern end of the avenue you’ll find the “Immortal Tree” - a 950-year-old, 250-foot-tall behemoth that’s weathered time, floods, logging, and a direct lightning strike that sheared off the top 45 feet of the tree. Along with walking trails, you can visit the Humboldt Redwoods Visitor Center to learn more about the park and the giant trees, and check out the unique "Travel Log" display.
