Ultimate Summer in Latin America: Mexico, Chile, and Costa Rica

While Europe and most of North America are getting cold weather and snow, summer is starting in most countries in Latin America. In the article, we are bringing you tips for the three most popular destinations of Daytrip’s customers: Mexico, Chile, and Costa Rica.

Summer in Mexico

Alright, let’s get one thing straight with Mexico. Mexico’s summer is technically at the same time as European summer. However, the location of the country has one advantage. Travelers can enjoy nice weather in the country pretty much all year long. In fact, most sources say that the best time to visit Mexico is between December and April. For reference, below is a graphic by the renowned travel magazine Travel + Leisure further highlighting the Mexican seasons and the best time for travel.

Whether you are already in Mexico or are in the planning stage, here are the most popular destinations that should not miss from your itinerary: Cancun, Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, Sayulita, or Akumal. But that is not all! If you decide that you want to explore local cultures, many hidden gems can be accessed by various means of transport.

Summer in Chile

Chile is another must-see destination. Summer in Chile spams from December to March and the weather (around 27 degrees Celsius) allows tourists to enjoy their time at beaches or in parks.

The popular destinations include Santiago, Valparaiso, San Antonio, Valle Nevado, Vina Del Mar, Mendoza, Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, El Calafate, Torres del Paine National Park, La Paz or Arica.

There are however many more spectacular places to see that people might not know about. We would recommend visiting: Lagunas Escondidas de Baltinache, La Portada Natural Monument, Lago Grey, or La Serena Zoo.

Summer in Costa Rica

Costa Rica’s summer is also known as the dry season and it starts in mid-November and goes through April. This season is the best to travel to the country to enjoy all that it has to offer.

Traveler’s favorites include the country’s capital, San Jose, as well as La Fortuna, Jaco, Monteverde, Puerto Viejo, Manuel Antonio, Liberia, Tamarindo or Quepos. However, as with any other country, Costa Rica has many hidden gems that should not be forgotten. You might want to do the Britt Coffee Tour, visit the Museo Historico Cultural Juan Sonatomaria, go see the Los Chorros Waterfalls, go to Ponderosa Adventure Park, or admire the beautiful flowers at Else Kientzler Garden. There are just so many options and amazing things to do in Costa Rica.
