If it is true what the papers say about Mariah Carey 'not doing stairs', then she probably wouldn't enjoy this place. Actually, her saying recently in Q magazine that she didn't have time for Led Zeppelin would probably be another reason she wouldn't want to spend to much time there. Actually, the music isn't really heavy, and the stairs are too steep, more just a shock when you get past the entrance. However, this cavernous space is a host for a wide range of musical experiences. Unsigned experiemental bands get to perform, Lily Allen did one of her first gigs there, Fortnightly is the Shrine when for a fusion between African music and Hip Hop Beats, Rough Trade play music they would sell on Saturday afternoons, Asian Drum and Bass First Saturday of the month, Alan McGee's Death Disco which has seen many music superstars behind the wheels of steel..... The list is endless. Go there, with and open mind and have a good time.
